Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) opened a 250-acre, COFC terminal in September 2013. This facility is referred to as the ADM Intermodal Ramp and is a part of an economic development effort by the Decatur and Macon County Economic Development Corporation in partnership with ADM called the Midwest Inland Port. This effort seeks to create a logistics hub in Decatur, IL.
The facility offers transloading as well as intermodal shipping. Switching is performed by a private company, allowing Norfolk Southern (NS), Canadian National (CN), and CSX to have access to this facility. This facility is also open to other shippers.
The ADM Intermodal Ramp represents an opportunity for soybean producers in Central Illinois to global and domestic markets that are associated with CN, CSX and NS. The Decatur terminal has a capacity of 150,000 lifts per year.
Access to the ADM Intermodal Ramp is via Brush College Road from Interstate 72.
Intermodal Connectors
There are a number of National Highway System (NHS) routes in the vicinity of the ADM intermodal terminal. There are no intermodal connectors at this time to the ADM Intermodal Ramp.
Intermodal Lanes
The ADM Intermodal Ramp offers domestic and international container services to all the destinations served by CN, CSX, or NS, which includes East and West Coast ports as well as Gulf of Mexico and Canadian ports.
Lift Counts
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, it is estimated that 50,000 containers will be processed per year. Capacity stands at 150,000 lifts per year.
