Norfolk Southern’s (NS) Kansas City Intermodal Terminal (VOL) is one of two intermodal terminals in Missouri. The other is the St. Louis intermodal terminal. The Kansas City intermodal terminal is also referred to as Voltz Yard. This terminal serves as a gateway as can be seen by the number of destinations it serves. The Kansas City Intermodal Terminal opened in 1994.

According to the 2013 National Transportation Atlas Database, the facility is located on the Kansas City District Subdivision. BNSF and UP have trackage rights over this line. This line is a heavy automotive line. VOL is a COFC-RoadRailer facility.
