CenterPoint Intermodal Center (CIC) is a 6,500-acre logistics center spanning parts of Elwood and Joliet, IL. Two rail intermodal terminals, the BNSF Logistics Park Chicago (LPC), and Union Pacific’s Joliet Intermodal Center anchor the CenterPoint development. CIC incorporates rail, intermodal, trucking, and transload functions in close proximity to distribution and logistics companies.

BNSF’S Logistics Park Chicago is located in Elwood, IL, a suburb of Chicago. This terminal is one of four BNSF intermodal terminals in the Chicago area. The others are Cicero in Cicero, IL, Willow Springs in Hodgkins, IL, and Corwith in Chicago. LPC can be accessed by I-55, or from I-80 to IL-53.

LPC opened in August 2002. It is a 770-acre modern, COFC only, master-planned intermodal terminal. Its function is that of an inland port as West Coast containers can be consolidated and distributed throughout the region. LPC has a lift capacity of 3 million and an automobile distribution facility. Approximately 2,500 trucks enter the auto facility each day. Ninety-nine percent of the containers handled at this facility are 40-foot international containers.
LPC is located on BNSF’s Chillicothe Subdivision. LPC is also located on BNSF’s Corridors of Commerce, specifically the Great Northern and the TransCon Corridors
