Union Pacific’s (UP) Yard Center Intermodal Terminal (YDC) is located in Dolton, IL. This terminal is one of five UP intermodal terminals in the Chicago area. The others are Global I in Chicago, Global II in Northlake, IL, Global III in Rochelle, IL and Global IV in Joliet, IL.
Interstates 57, 94, and 294 offer access to Yard Center. The terminal is also located less than four miles from I-80. According to UP’s 2012 Form 10-K, Yard Center ranked 6th in lift activity among UP intermodal facilities in 2012.
According to the 2013 National Transportation Atlas Database, this facility is located on the Villa Grove Subdivision. CSX and Amtrak have trackage rights over this subdivision. Truck counts are available on some National Highway System (NHS) roads and connectors leading to the YDC facility.
This intermodal terminal is located near CSX’s Barr Yard and Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad’s (IHB) Blue Island Yard.
