{"id":11599,"date":"2024-02-23T11:22:30","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T17:22:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/midamericafreight.org\/?p=11599"},"modified":"2024-03-20T20:59:59","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T01:59:59","slug":"detention-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midamericafreight.org\/index.php\/2024\/02\/23\/detention-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Detention again?!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A recent article in Transport Topics announces an FMCSA study of detention delays for truck operators.\u00a0 The time spent by truck operators spend in detention is defined as.\u201c the extra time truck drivers wait at shipping and receiving facilities due to delays not associated with the loading and unloading of cargo,\u201d said a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2024\/02\/16\/2024-03256\/agency-information-collection-activities-approval-of-a-new-information-collection-request-impact-of\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Feb. 16 FMCSA notice seeking public comment<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These delays are more than frustrating. Previous research by the Inspector General found that&nbsp;a 15-minute increase in average dwell time \u2014 the total time spent by a truck at a facility \u2014 increases the average expected crash rate by 6.2%.
